Ear Pinning (Otoplasty) In Miami, FL

(310) 970-2940 | Beverly Hills | Miami

Cosmetic concerns with the ears (including ears that stick out from the sides of the head and ears that are disproportionately large for the face) can cause women and men to feel self-conscious. What makes cosmetic issues with the ears even more frustrating is that they can be present from birth, and there are no natural ways of correcting prominent ears.

Instead, cosmetic surgery is the only way to address aesthetic concerns with the ears.

Ear pinning (otoplasty) is safe and effective for patients of all ages. This cosmetic surgery corrects large, protruding ears to help patients look more natural.

What Can Ear Pinning Achieve?

The size and shape of the ears affect the entire facial aesthetic. This means that large and prominent ears can severely detract from a person’s face, causing children, women, and men to feel embarrassed about their appearance. However, ear pinning can create a balanced and more attractive facial appearance.

Along with helping to improve patients’ physical appearances, patients of all ages can improve their confidence with natural-looking results. Additionally, patients can feel more comfortable wearing various hairstyles and/or hats that no longer hide their ears, allowing them to express themselves more freely.

Dr. Hadeed will take the time to listen to your concerns, explain the details of your surgery, and understand the outcome you desire.

How Is Otoplasty Performed?

Otoplasty is an outpatient procedure. This means you can return home and begin your recovery immediately after your surgery. While the exact length of the procedure varies, most ear pinning procedures take about two hours to complete.

As with any plastic surgery procedure, your consultation is the first and most important step in your ear pinning journey. Dr. Hadeed will evaluate your ears and discuss your desired results. You can also ask any questions you have about your surgery or recovery.

Before your procedure, you will be given general anesthesia to ensure you don’t feel any pain or discomfort during the surgery. Once you are sedated, Dr. Hadeed will make the necessary incisions.

Generally, these incisions are made behind the ear.

With these incisions, Dr. Hadeed will remove excess cartilage from the ear and, if needed, place permanent sutures to reposition the ear closer to the side of the head.

Lastly, Dr. Hadeed will sculpt the ears so that they are balanced to the appearance and size of your face.

What Will My Otoplasty Recovery Be Like?

After your ear pinning procedure, there will be some swelling and bruising in the surgical area. You may also experience some discomfort; however, these side effects will dissipate. While it will likely take four to six weeks to recover completely, most patients return to work or school within two weeks.

You may have to wear a light compression dressing immediately after your surgery. This will speed your recovery and help ensure your desired results. It is important to keep your head elevated during your recovery and ensure you do not engage in strenuous activity until you are cleared by Dr. Hadeed.

What Results Can I Expect From Otoplasty?

You will see results immediately after your ear pinning surgery; however, you will see continued improvements over the next several weeks. It generally takes six weeks for all post-surgical swelling to dissipate. At that time, you will see your final results.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ear Pinning

Am I a candidate for otoplasty?

Ear pinning is a fantastic option for patients of all ages (from children as young as four to mature women and men) who are frustrated with the appearance of their large and/or protruding ears. Ideal candidates are non-smoking individuals in good general health who have realistic expectations for their results. During your consultation, Dr. Hadeed will evaluate your condition to determine if ear pinning is the right surgical option for you.

Is it better to have otoplasty as a child?

Children with large and/or protruding ears (macrotia) are often teased about the appearance of their ears, negatively affecting their self-esteem. However, having your child undergo otoplasty can help them improve their confidence, benefiting them as they grow and move through school and into adulthood.

Can I combine ear pinning with other procedures?

Though many patients undergo otoplasty as a standalone procedure, combining your ear pinning surgery with other procedures can help you achieve a more complete and dramatic facial transformation.

Some of the best procedures to combine with otoplasty include:

How long will my otoplasty results last?

One of the many benefits of ear pinning procedures is that your results are permanent.

Will I have scarring from my ear pinning surgery?

Dr. Hadeed does everything possible to hide otoplasty incisions behind the ear. This means that the resulting scars will not be visible. However, on rare occasions, patients may develop keloid scars (an overgrowth of scar tissue).

How much does otoplasty cost in Miami?

The cost of your Miami otoplasty surgery will vary depending on the specifics of the surgery, including the technique used and the extent of correction needed. At your consultation, Dr. Hadeed will provide you with an accurate cost estimate.
