Male plastic surgery

Posted in Male plastic surgery

The notion that cosmetic surgery procedures are only for women no longer exists.  According to the latest procedural statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, men are starting to account for an increased number of plastic surgery procedures performed in the United States.  Men have become more interested in their own health and looking their best.  There are important social and professional benefits to looking young.  Male plastic surgery rates have increased significantly over the past decade as men look to improve their self-image, regain a more youthful look, and feel better about their appearance.  The same procedures that are performed on women are available to men, with slight modifications to provide results that are more masculine.

Some men only desire rejuvenation procedures on their face.  As men age they lose volume in the mid-face, causing a hollowed out look in the cheeks.  The facial skin starts to droop resulting in jowls along the jawline.  The neck skin can also sag.  In these instances a facelift combined with a necklift can provide a younger appearance to the face and a stronger appearing neckline.  In some instances the fat in the face may need to be redistributed to the cheeks to give a more youthful look.  Fat grafting to the cheeks can also restore volume to the mid-face.  Some men complain that they always look tired from bags under their eyes or their upper eyelids drooping.  In these cases eyelid surgery on both the upper and lower eyelids can restore a more restful look to the man.  Botox and dermal fillers may be used as an adjunct to treat wrinkles and folds on the face. Sun damaged skin may be treated with chemical peels and/or laser therapy.  Depending on the particular characteristics of your skin, a regimen of skin care products can maintain the refreshed, rejuvenated executive edge you desire.

There are also many procedures available to men that can restore youthful contours to the figure.  Body contouring procedures are effective in regaining a masculine appearance.  As men get older they preferentially gain fat in the lower abdominal area.  An abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, removes the excess skin and fat and provides a flattened contour to the abdomen.  The latest advances in liposuction can sculpt the abdomen to give a more chiseled appearance.  Some men also gain fat in their chest, which can be a source of embarrassment.  A male breast reduction with either liposuction or direct excision of the fat can restore a masculine look to the chest.  Some men may also desire liposuction to the arms and legs to remove excess fat and restore a youthful appearance.

The appearance of youth can be beneficial for many men.  Not only can it boost their self-image and esteem, but it can also boost their career.  As men age they are competing in the job market with younger males.  A youthful, rejuvenated image makes an older male look more energetic, which is appealing to many employers.  As men start to take more of an interest in their health and well-being, they are also starting to focus more on their looks.  Male plastic surgery can restore a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance to the executive male.
