Breast Augmentation In Beverly Hills, CA

(310) 970-2940 | Beverly Hills | Miami

Many people consider an hourglass profile as the ultimate image of femininity. Over time, many women begin to notice their breasts changing due to pregnancy, weight loss, breastfeeding, and the natural aging process. Others may feel their breasts are asymmetrical, underdeveloped, or too small and desire a more prominent, perkier, and more balanced chest. Breast augmentation is a way to surgically enhance your chest, giving you the feminine shape and contour you’ve always wanted.

What Is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammaplasty, uses implants to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breasts. Dr. Hadeed uses a variety of breast implant types and options to help you achieve the most natural-looking breast augmentation results possible. Depending on your specific aesthetic needs, silicone or saline implants can be used to create the best breast enhancement or breast enlargement for you.

What Can Breast Augmentation Achieve?

A More Balanced Figure

You may feel that your breasts look uneven or do not complement your figure. Breast augmentation with implants can correct breast asymmetry and achieve breasts that fit with the rest of your body to create a more balanced appearance.

Increased Volume

As your breasts fluctuate with time and lifestyle changes, they can become smaller, flatter, and deflated. Breast implant surgery can restore volume to your breasts for a more voluptuous appearance. Breast augmentation after breastfeeding is common among women, as breastfeeding often gives your breasts a deflated appearance.

More Satisfying Breast Appearance

If you are feeling unsatisfied with the appearance of your breasts and wish to make a change, our team of plastic surgeons can help you address all your needs. No concern is too big or too small for us.

How Is Breast Augmentation Performed?

Consultation

When you come in for your breast augmentation consultation with Dr. Hadeed, he will talk with you about your goals and desired results for your breast augmentation. In many cases, when women decide to undergo breast enhancement or enlargement surgery, they are drawn to the largest implant or most affordable augmentation options. However, Dr. Hadeed recommends his patients opt for a breast implant that balances their figure and offers a natural appearance rather than an artificial one.

Dr. Hadeed is a premier breast augmentation surgeon in Beverly Hills. Because he has years of experience performing breast enhancement surgeries, scheduling a consultation at his office is the best resource you will have when striving for the best breast augmentation results possible.

Procedure

Once you are under general anesthesia, Dr. Hadeed will make an incision, which he will use to insert the breast implant. Once the incision is made, he creates a pocket in your chest and places the implant inside, centered behind your nipple. Where the implant pocket is created depends on whether you choose submuscular or subglandular placement.

If you are getting saline breast implants, the empty implant is placed inside the pocket and filled with a sterile saline solution once correctly situated. Silicone breast implants are pre-filled with a cohesive silicone gel, which is already the correct size when placed. Once the implants are in place, the incision is carefully sutured closed and bandaged with sterile dressings and a compression bandage.

During your consultation in Beverly Hills, Dr. Hadeed will help you choose the breast implants size and options that will give you the best results for your body.

What Are My Breast Implant Options?

There are two types of breast implants to choose from: saline and silicone. Both types of implants offer pros and cons; you will discuss your options with Dr. Hadeed during your consultation.

Saline Breast Implants

Filled with a saline solution and placed either above or below the pectoral muscles, saline implants are a popular choice, depending on the patient’s lifestyle and preferences. It is always recommended that patients choose a breast implant size that will complement their figure and create a harmonious appearance.

If you are looking for a more affordable option, saline breast implants are less expensive than silicone, but they do not provide the same caliber of natural shaping or texture that you can find in silicone.

Saline implants are effective at creating a robust, youthful breast appearance. However, while the surrounding skin and tissue conform to the underlying implant, saline implants are ultimately the consistency of water, which is often noticeable to the touch. They are also not recommended for women with a small amount of natural breast tissue, as the edges of the implant tend to be visible under the skin and may have a rippled appearance.

Silicone Breast Implants

Made entirely from a silicone substance, Silicone implants are less prone to rupture or rippling and help improve the natural look and feel of your breasts after implants. Their silicone structure allows them to be shaped to your specific needs.

If you are looking for a natural appearance with as little chance of implant rippling or texture concerns after the procedure, silicone implants are the best option to create a more pronounced, natural figure. Silicone is also better at mimicking the texture of a natural breast, making it less obtrusive than the saline alternative.

What Are My Breast Augmentation Incision Options?

Despite what type or shape of implant you get, an incision must be made somewhere on the skin so Dr. Hadeed can place the implant inside your breast tissue. Scarring is possibly the most significant drawback to any cosmetic surgery, but you can minimize its impact by choosing the least visible location for your lifestyle.

There are two breast augmentation incisions you can choose from for any implant type: inframammary and periareolar. With saline implants, you have two additional options for incisions that are not available for silicone implants: transaxillary (made within the armpit) and transumbilical (through the belly button). These two options prevent scarring on the breast tissue.

Inframammary

Made along the fold beneath the breasts, inframammary incisions mean the scarring will always be covered by clothing as minimal as a bikini or bra. Still, if you find yourself wearing clothing that often exposes the underside of your breast, this might not be the best option for your implant incision.

The upside to this incision location is that it provides the maximum amount of visibility for the doctor to operate, which means the likelihood of misplaced implants or an unnatural appearance drops significantly compared to other methods. This incision can accommodate both silicone and saline implant types

Periareolar

With this method, incisions are made around the perimeter of the areolas, allowing scarring to blend in with the texture change between the skin and the areola. Any clothing, including more revealing bras, lingerie, or bathing suits, will cover the incision location, so you won’t need to worry about exposing your scarring at the beach or in clothing with less coverage.

This method provides moderate control over implant placement, but it does come with the risk of changing the sensitivity of the nipple. Periareolar incisions can accommodate both silicone and saline implant types.

Transaxillary

This incision is only made with saline implants. The cut is made within the armpits, preventing any type of scarring from happening on or near the breast area. This is a reliable option if you want to protect the aesthetic of the skin surrounding your breast.

Unfortunately, since transaxillary incisions are only done for saline implants, this method may be more susceptible to rupture or skin texture problems once the implant has been set.

Transumbilical (TUBA)

Similar to the transaxillary method, the transumbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) incision is a good option for ensuring the skin on and around the breast is not scarred since the incision is made through the belly button. This incision method is also only available for saline implants and utilizes an endoscopic camera to help with their placement.

Saline implants do not have the same structural integrity as silicone implants and are more prone to rippling or rupture once implanted.

“I help my patients stand out for all the right reasons.”

What Are My Breast Augmentation Placement Options?

There are several implant placement options available, and this choice will affect the overall appearance of your breasts.

Submuscular

In a submuscular breast augmentation, the implants are placed beneath the pectoral muscles. By having an additional layer of natural tissue in front of the implant rather than just a single layer of skin or tissue, there is a lower chance of rippling and capsular contracture. If you are concerned about having a natural-looking breast augmentation, submuscular placement is your best option for addressing that worry.

Subglandular

If you have a more active and fit body shape, particularly if you routinely use or flex your chest muscles, you may want to consider subglandular placement. Subglandular placement situates the implant under your breast tissue but above the pectoral muscles, reducing the likelihood of implant distortion, rippling, or rupture during muscle contraction.

Dual-Plane

Dr. Hadeed usually performs dual-plane breast augmentation, where the implant is placed under the pectoral muscle, and the breast tissue is slightly repositioned to cover the lower part of the implant. This type of breast augmentation technique provides a more natural breast shape and texture.

Can I Combine Breast Augmentation With Other Procedures?

If you would like to take your aesthetic goals a little further, you can combine your breast augmentation with another procedure to create even more drastic results. Breast augmentation with breast lift surgery can not only increase the size of your bust to make your body more balanced, but it can also address any looseness or sagginess in the breast area caused by weight fluctuation, genetics, or aging, giving you a youthful, balanced body shape.

Combining your breast augmentation with other parts of a Mommy Makeover (liposuction, butt lift, tummy tuck) can help you restore the contours and curvature that was lost during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. Liposuction reduces the size of stubborn pockets of fat, while a Brazilian Butt Lift increases the fullness of the targeted areas.

Breast augmentation can also be combined with Dr. Hadeed’s signature TriDef™ Liposculpting procedure to give you the hourglass figure you’ve always wanted.

What Can I Expect During My Breast Augmentation Recovery?

You will likely feel disoriented and sore immediately following your breast augmentation procedure, but it should only take a few hours for these anesthesia effects to wear off. You should plan ahead to make sure you have a ride home from the hospital and have someone who can stay with you overnight.

If you are used to sleeping on your stomach, you may have difficulty getting comfortable after your procedure. You must sleep on your side or back to avoid putting excess pressure on your wounds. Keeping your head and chest elevated with pillows or sleeping in a comfortable reclining chair will help expedite your healing process.

During the first two weeks of your breast augmentation recovery, you will need to avoid any heavy lifting (10 or more pounds), so it is essential to make sure you have someone around who can help with household tasks or children while you recover. Since you are not allowed to drive while taking narcotic pain medication, it would also be helpful to have arrangements for someone to drive you to and from appointments and errands.

You may shower two days after the breast augmentation procedure, but you should avoid submerging yourself in water (baths, hot tubs, and swimming pools) for at least six weeks to avoid exposing yourself to infection and harming the healing process.

Dr. Hadeed will prescribe you medication to cope with the pain and discomfort from plastic surgery, which is enough to help most patients cope with the worst part of the pain. Getting plenty of rest after undergoing your procedure is essential, but it is equally important to ensure you are taking your medication as prescribed by Dr. Hadeed.

A compression bra should also be worn to help minimize swelling. This garment is designed to reduce swelling and pain following your breast augmentation procedure. It provides support to your breasts and keeps your incisions from unnecessary pressure.

After the first week has passed, Dr. Hadeed recommends that you ease yourself back into light activity and your regular daily routine. Strenuous exercise and activities should still be avoided for at least six weeks since they can cause serious harm to the healing process. You will need to be fully cleared by Dr. Hadeed to resume all normal activities following your breast surgery.

When Will I See My Breast Augmentation Results?

Breast augmentation results can be seen immediately after surgery. However, it may take several months for the swelling to subside completely and for the implants to settle.

How Do I Maintain My Breast Implants?

While the results of your breast augmentation are considered permanent, breast implants don’t last forever. Most implants, both silicone and saline, are designed to last more than ten years and sometimes up to 20 years.

Breast implants are made to be durable, but they can occasionally leak or rupture. If a saline implant leaks, you will notice immediately, as your breast will deflate. Silicone ruptures are more challenging to detect, as the gel in the implant is so thick that a leak often can’t be detected by feel or appearance. The FDA recommends that people with silicone breast implants get an MRI done five years after their breast augmentation and every two to three years after that. An MRI is the only way to determine if your silicone implant is leaking.

What Complications Can Occur With a Breast Augmentation?

There is a risk of complications manifesting in any surgical procedure. Here is a list of the most common complications that follow breast augmentation:

Breast Implant Rupture

In rare cases, the implant used to create your new shape may leak. In the case of a saline implant, the fluid that fills the implant will be absorbed by the body, but the casing must be retrieved surgically. Since silicone is a single unit made of dense material, a rupture in this type of implant typically stays localized between the implant and the surrounding scar tissue.

Capsular Contracture

In certain instances, the scar tissue that naturally forms around the implants can tighten, resulting in discomfort or distortion in the shape of the breast.

Double Bubble Breast Deformity

This complication arises when the implant does not sit properly in the breast tissue, and either rises too high or too low relative to the native breast tissue, causing the appearance of two “bubbles” on the breast.

Breast Implant Bottoming Out

When the breast implant slips beneath the inframammary fold, it is referred to as bottoming out. It can be caused by large implants or weak breast tissue that is unable to hold the weight of the implant.

In our practice, time is
the secret ingredient.

Breast Revision

If you are unhappy with the initial results of your breast augmentation or have experienced a decline in the appearance of your breasts as you have aged, you can always look to have breast revision surgery to correct the problems you are experiencing.

Breast Augmentation FAQ

Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation?

Ideal candidates should be in good health and have realistic expectations. Women with volume loss, underdeveloped or asymmetrical breasts, or naturally small breasts are excellent candidates for this procedure. Patients will be asked to stop smoking and drinking for a few weeks before and after their surgery.

How long does breast augmentation surgery usually take?

The length of breast augmentation surgery can vary depending on the amount of correction needed. Typically, the procedure will take around an hour to complete; however, if you add additional cosmetic procedures, the surgery will take longer.

Is breast augmentation safe?

Breast augmentation is considered safe when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive training and experience. Dr. Hadeed is a double board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic body procedures like breast augmentation.

Are there any risks involved with breast augmentation?

As with most surgical procedures, there are certain risks involved with breast augmentation. These include:

  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Changes in nipple sensation
  • Fluid buildup
  • Wrinkling of the skin over the implant
  • Capsular contracture (tightening of scar tissue)
  • Implant leakage or rupture

If you notice any of the above issues, contact Dr. Hadeed’s office as soon as possible.

How soon after breast augmentation can I wear a regular bra?

Dr. Hadeed typically recommends waiting six weeks before you start wearing a regular bra to ensure that your incisions have healed and your breasts have settled into place. During your follow-up appointments, Dr. Hadeed will let you know when you can start wearing the bras of your choice.

Will breast augmentation increase my risk of breast cancer?

No, there is no link between breast cancer or breast implants and the breast augmentation procedure. You should continue to get yearly mammograms, and let your mammogram technician know that you have breast implants so that they can get the most accurate imaging of your natural breast tissue as possible.

How old do I need to be for a breast augmentation?

While there is technically no age limit for breast augmentation, Dr. Hadeed follows FDA guidelines for implants. The FDA requires patients who want saline breast implants to be 18 or older, and those who want silicone implants must be 22 or older.

Am I too old for breast augmentation surgery?

Breast augmentation is a suitable treatment for anyone looking to restore the shape, size, and fullness of their breasts, regardless of age.

When can I return to work after a breast augmentation?

Most patients are able to return to their job within a week or two after their surgery, depending on the level of activity required. If you have a desk job, you should be able to return to work after a week of recovery. If your job is more strenuous or requires lifting more than 20 pounds, Dr. Hadeed may recommend that you wait a bit longer.

Will breast augmentation affect my weight?

Aside from the added weight from the implants, there is no direct effect on the patient’s weight.

Can I breastfeed after a breast augmentation?

Most breast implants do not have any effect on a patient’s ability to breastfeed. If you received a periareolar incision around the nipple, your milk ducts may have been affected. If your implants were placed over the pectoral muscle (subglandular), then you may also experience some difficulty with breast augmentation and breastfeeding. Dr. Hadeed can review all of the effects breast augmentation may have on breastfeeding with you during your consultation at his office in Beverly Hills.

What can I do if I don’t like the results of my breast augmentation?

If you are unhappy with the initial results of your breast augmentation or have experienced a decline in the appearance of your breasts as you have aged, you can always look to have breast revision surgery to correct the problems you are experiencing.

How much does breast augmentation cost in Beverly Hills, CA?

The average price of breast augmentation in Beverly Hills, CA, varies, so Dr. Hadeed will provide you with an accurate estimate of your procedure price. It is important to remember that the cost of your surgery depends on all of the following: anesthesia fees, hospital and surgical facility costs, medical tests, post-surgery garments, prescriptions, and the surgeon’s fee.
If you’re interested in a breast augmentation near Beverly Hills, CA, Dr. Hadeed offers several financing options.

Is breast augmentation painful?

Breast augmentation is not a painful surgery because it is performed using general anesthesia. Once the anesthesia wears off, you will likely experience discomfort more than pain. Achiness, tenderness, and tightness around the surgical area are common, and will decrease as your body continues to heal. While you may take prescription pain medication as needed, most patients only require over-the-counter pain relievers after the first couple of days following their surgery.

Does breast augmentation leave scars?

The severity of your scarring will depend on the incisions made and your body’s reaction to the incisions. Avoid direct sunlight when your breast augmentation scars are new, as this will minimize discoloration. In most cases, scarring from breast augmentation surgery is easily hidden by clothing. As time passes, the visibility of your scarring will fade.

Can I get breast augmentation without implants?

If you are looking to enhance your breasts without implants, you may opt for autologous breast augmentation. Also known as fat transfer breast augmentation, this procedure uses fat harvested from your own body via liposuction to augment your breasts. Autologous breast augmentation is for those who desire a natural alternative to implants and have excess fat that can be used for the procedure. This method can only add about one cup size to your breasts, so is recommended for women looking for a more subtle size increase.
